South Africa lsot in the semi-finals of the 2015 World Cup. They were in Pool B of the 2015 World Cup. The team was led by AB de Villiers and is coached by Russell Domingo.

South Africa has hired Gary Kirsten and Michael Hussey as special consultants for their team in the World Cup. While Michael Hussey is hired specifically for the World Cup, Gary Kirsten is on a 50-days-a-year deal with South Africa.

For the first time, South Africa won a knock match of an ICC tournament when they defeated Sri Lanka in the quarter-finals.
