World Cup History

South Africa made their World Cup appereance in 1992. They are often one of the strongest teams in World Cup tournaments, but haven't had much luck.

South Africa lost in the semi-finals to New Zealand in the 2015 World Cup. For the first time in their history, South Africa won a knock out match in an ICC tournament.

One-day International Records

  • Highest partnership for fifth wicket: David Miller and Jean-Paul Duminy scored an unbeaten 256 runs for fifth wicket in the victory over Zimbabwe in 2015 World Cup. It was also South Africa's highest partnership for any wicket.

World Cup Records

  • Gary Kirsten and David Miller are the only South African batsman to have scored centuries on World Cup debut. Gary Kirsten scored 188* against United Arab Emirates in 1996, while David Miller scored 138*(92).
