Martin Guptill is a New Zealand batsman. Guptill has scored the highest individual score in World Cup matches and second highest individual score in One Day Internationals. He scored the first double century by a New Zealand batsman in the quarter-finals of 2015 World Cup against West Indies. His 237*(163) is the highest by a New Zealand cricketer in ODIs.

Guptill has won 9 Man of Match awards in One Day Internationals.


In the 2015 World Cup, Martin Guptill scored consecutive centuries. His second century that came in the quarter-final against West Indies, Guptill scored a double-ton which was also his highest ODI score. He remained unbeaten at 237 in 163 deliveries. His double-century is also the highest individual score and the first double-century by a New Zealand batsman.

Martin Guptill became the highest run scorer in the 2015 World Cup. He has scored 547 runs, the only New Zealand batsman to score 500-plus runs in a single World Cup. Prior to him, Scott Styris was the highest run scorer for New Zealand in a single World Cup. He had scored 499 runs in the 2007 World Cup.

Personal Life

A painful incident in his adolescence, Martin Guptill has three toes removed from his left foot. His foot was run over by a forklift, driven by his brother, Ben. The doctors managed to set his crushed toes and gave a couple of weeks to heal. But due to lack of any signs of healing, they have decided to amputate them.
